The preparations are going well so far - only 4 days to go!. I will be picking the boat up from Aled and Mike at Rockpool Kayaks, Anglesey, today (Wednesday 29th March). It has had some sea trials and is handling really well. That's a relief!

I moved my trainging boat into the lounge the other night for a practise pack and everything went in with a little room to spare, including 14 days-worth of food. The new boat is some 15" longer so I should have loads of space.

I had a real scare on Sunday when I pulled a muscle in my back that went into spasm. A quick visit to the physioterrorist and I was moving more freely but in quite a bit of pain, he assures me that with agressive (!) treatment I'll be ready for Sunday but I might hurt a bit.

I have had a couple of days wearing sandwich boards at the Outdoor Show at the NEC - perhaps you saw me! - and raised just over £200.00 in sponsorship. In contrast I raised over the same amount in one day in Bracknell Town Centre, with the help of sub-zero temperatures - think people felt sorry for me.

I had to knock a similar venture on the head in Camberley when I needed public liability insurance in case someone fell over the boat!

Just a few minor bits and pieces to sort out now and that's it, all set and ready for the off. Guess I feel a real mixture of emotions at this point, one thing is for sure it's going to be a great trip.

All the best
